ATI Driver and MAYA rotation tool

By any chance, if you are a humble animator and your little work station at home is using ATI 4800 series graphic card, you may get this little but annoy problem in MAYA.

My computer is using Radeon 4870 series and when I updated Catalyst driver to 9.XX series, I've found that in MAYA the rotation tool was acting wired. I could not Free rotate the object and could not select in Axis I want.

I just found out that this problem is occurred because of the graphic card driver so the way to solve it is to uninstall Catalyst driver and use the old driver (8.xx series).

The way to uninstall the driver is not quite easy. You can find the tutorial here

Previous ATI drivers HERE

PS. I don't know that the latest Catalyst driver (9.6) has solved this problem or not (I used 9.5 before.) But if you got the same problem as me, just uninstall the driver and use the 8.12 version.
Problem solve!

Secret of the new Star Trek. It is Cloverfield!!

The picture is the opening of the new Star Trek in trailer. Try to look at the name of the building. It is Tagruato !!

What is Tagruato? It's Japanese company that products a power drink name Slusho which is the origin of the monster in Cloverfield in somehow.

Yeah! JJ Abrams is the writer of both films and Slusho appeared here and there in his film such as Fringe. So it's not a big secret or connection ,just like an Ester Egg :P

The Midnight Meat Train

I've just seen the movie The Midnight Meat Train. It is the movie version of Clive Barker's 1984 short story directed by Ryûhei Kitamura (director of Azumi).

If you like the Blood & Gore Horror movie, you should check this movie out. The story is quite insane and nonsense in some parts. I feel the Maya's role (by Leslie Bibb) is very weak but apart of that lead actors Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones did quite good.

Yep, if you want to see bloody, full of disgusting shots and Clive Barker's style twisted plot. The Midnight Meat Train is the movie for you.

One more thing, I've decided to do video clips for REFERENCES purpose of the movies, animations and clips I saw as many as I can.
So here is the first one.

The big moment of The Midnight Meat Train.
*** Warning*** Quite disturbing and bloody ***

Want to animate a killing scene anyone? :P

Do not underestimate this cartoon series because it celebrate its 10th Anniversary right now with the nice box set.

Honestly, I'm not quite a fan of Cartoon Network but this one is different.
The Powerpuff Girls has humor, action and funny so the Box set witch contains all 78 episodes in 6 DVDs is really interesting. Hmmm..... Should I get this one?

The Powerpuff Girls: The Complete Series - 10th Anniversary Collection is No.1 Character series Animation best selling at Amazon right now.

Slumdog Millionaire won 4 Golden Globe Awards 2009

Congratulations for Danny Boyle

Slumdog Millionaire, a drama of a boy name Jamal Malik who is one question away from the last question to win "who want to be a millionaire" show. The story brings you to see Jamal life and how he knows almost every answers. The movie is beautiful and very entertain from the beginning to the end. It's great cinematography and great story. All elements of the film are beautiful. Every color of shirts, walls, house or even trash are well arranged to get great composition for every scenes. One of my friends said this movie is one of his best movies he ever saw.

Slumdog Millionaire won 4 awards from Golden Globe
- Best Motion Picture - Drama
- Best Director - Motion Picture: Danny Boyle
- Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
- Best Original Score - Motion Picture: Composed by A. R. Rahman

Again Danny Boyle!
You've created such a nice set of beautiful movies since the beach, 28 days later, Sunshine and this one. I really like all of your movie. Hope you can make it for the Academy Award also.

Another Best Games of the Year 2008

Yeah yeah if you're looking for lists of the best game of the year, you can look at tons of web sites over the internet. So for my site, I think I will come up with lists of some games that almost make it that high. There are a lot of great games that you do not want to miss but there are never appear on the ' best of the year' list. So here it is.

Another best Action & Adventure

Dead Space
IMO the best new IP of 2008. Dead space combines the Sci-Fi survivor horror setting and Action adventure really well. This game is so scary but with the fixing script, it can be less when you replay it again but anyway Dead Space win another best Action & Adventure game of 2008 for me.

Also look: Castle Crashers (XBL Arcade)

Another best RPG

Tales of Vesperia
Not only 2008 but Tales of Vesperia is one of the best Xbox360 RPG games. Believe me, you will laugh when listen to the characters conversations. The Anime look of the game is really pretty, not as many deatails as Eternal Sonata but look more like Anime. The story is pretty good and real time action combat system is really fun. So don't miss this game if you're RPG fans.

Also look: The Last Remnant

Another Best Strategy

King's Bounty: The Legend

Who said Turn-Base strategy genre is dead? Hell no, 2008 is the year of TBS games. The great games such as Heroes V: Tribes of the East and Galactic Civilization II: Twilight of the Arnor, Civilization IV: Colonization and this game King's Bounty: The Legend. King's Bounty stands out from others because of its cutting edge graphic and user friendly... I mean it run smoothly on even the low-mid computer.

Also look: Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East

Another best Shooters

Far Cry 2
Far Cry 2 is a great shooting game but it's put aside by Left 4 Dead or Call of Duty: World at War. FC2's graphic is the most bautiful amoung every game in 2008. Game play is RPG base that you can work or get quest for the groups. So this game deserves to get a award. At least from mind :)

Also look: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

9 Teaser

Tim Berton version of this award short film story. Main character looks similar with sacky boys from Little Big Planet? Hell no! the original 9 was several years ago.
